Timeless by R. A. Salvatore Summary

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller! R. A. Salvatore returns with one of fantasy's most beloved and enduring icons, the dark elf Drizzt Do'Urden, in an all-new trilogy full of swordplay, danger, and imaginative thrills. Centuries ago, in the city of Menzoberranzan, the City of Spiders, the City of Drow, nestled deep in the unmerciful Underdark of Toril, a young weapon master earned a reputation far above his station or that of his poor house. The greater nobles watched him, and one matron, in particular, decided to take him as her own. She connived with rival great houses to secure her prize, but that prize was caught for her by another, who came to quite enjoy the weapon master. This was the beginning of the friendship between Zaknafein and Jarlaxle, and the coupling of Matron Malice and the weapon master who would sire Drizzt Do’Urden. R. A. Salvatore reveals the Underdark anew through the eyes of Zaknafein and Jarlaxle—an introduction to the darkness that offers a fresh view of the opportunities to be found in the shadows and an intriguing prelude to the intriguing escapes that lie ahead in the modern-day Forgotten Realms. Here, a father and his son are reunited and embark on adventures that parallel the trials of centuries long past as the friends of old are joined by Drizzt, Hero of the North, trained by Grandmaster Kane in the ways of the monk. But the scourge of the dangerous Lolth’s ambitions remain, and demons have been foisted on the unwitting of the surface. The resulting chaos and war will prove to be the greatest challenge for all three.

The End of the Timeless God by R. T. Mullins Summary

The claim that God is timeless has been the majority view throughout church history. However, it is not obvious that divine timelessness is compatible with fundamental Christian doctrines such as creation and incarnation. Theologians have long been aware of the conflict between divine timelessness and Christian doctrine, and various solutions to these conflicts have been developed. In contemporary thought, it is widely agreed that new theories on the nature of time can further help solve these conflicts. Do these solutions actually solve the conflict? Can the Christian God be timeless? The End of the Timeless God sets forth a thorough investigation into the Christian understanding of God and the God-world relationship. It argues that the Christian God cannot be timeless.

Timeless Experience by Nancy Amendt-Lyon Summary

For years, psychotherapists have known that Laura Perls was actively involved in the development of what today is known as Gestalt therapy, although her husband, Frederick Perls, officially authored the foundational texts. Laura Perls’s own professional publications are succinct and appreciated, but they are not numerous. The present volume, comprising Laura Perls’s heretofore unpublished writing, including journal entries, letters, poems, translations, short stories, and drafts for lectures and publications, offers a very personal perspective on one of the founders of Gestalt therapy. The extensive interview that Daniel Rosenblatt conducted with Laura Perls in 1972, published here for the first time in English, complements her literary texts, and provides valuable background information. Laura Perls’s history spans two world wars, flight from Nazi persecution, life on three continents, and many new beginnings. Together with her known works, these literary texts reflect the emergence of women into professional and public life during the 20th century by giving the reader insight into this time period and the influence of a woman on the development of a major school of Humanistic Psychology. The rich cultural background from which Laura Perls benefited and the authors whose works inspired her resonate in her literary texts, a treasure chest of personal reflections during the decades of her life from 1946 to 1985. In addition, a general overview of her life is provided, her theoretical and practical contributions to the origins and development of Gestalt therapy are described, and her legacy to the field of Gestalt therapy is elucidated. Laura Perls was known for making the New York Institute for Gestalt Therapy a viable and important teaching community. For decades, she was the keeper of the flame of this foundational Gestalt institute. Best known for her concepts of contact and support, the creative use of experiments, and productive use of embarrassment, Laura Perls’s literary texts are finally made available here.

Timeless Truth in the Hands of History by Gale Heide Summary

When did 'Systematic Theology' as a branch of thinking come into being? What does it mean for theology to be systematic? By examining and contemplating the works of prominent theologians and philosophers at various times labelled systematic, Heide not only outlines the methodological history of systematic theology but also provides a survey of the philosophical and theological discourse connected to the term 'system'. Arguing that certain elements of system such as logic are not wholly free from programmatic intentions (vested interests), Heide takes issue with the lack of reference to external philosophical categories or language that he claims has unduly influenced the investigation and construction of theology since at least thesecond century.

Timeless Tagore by Rupa De Summary

Timeless Tagore evolved, bit by bit, over a very long time. I am painfully aware that this project is a “mission impossible”, given the unconquerable gulf between Rabindranath Tagore’s lyrical mastery in the Bengali original, and the near maiming that ensues in translating his creation into another language. It is also impossible to translate the beautiful use of alliteration and the onoematopia the poet indulges in. As William Radice, observed, even the best of translators would have struggled with reproducing into English some of the characteristics of Bengali such as “its rich sound patterns, exploited to the full by Tagore, its elegantly economical and regular inflexional system or its abundance of vivid, onomatopoeic words ...” Nevertheless, I found myself incapable of turning away from this madness that spurred me to take a minute part of the poet’s genius to non-Bengali friends of mine and to those of my family who cannot read Bengali. This modest collection, a labour of love and respect, consisting of samples of Tagore’s vast collection of songs, has been randomly selected. It does not follow any category but comprises songs that touch me, inspire me, bring me out from the depths of darknesso and at times, exhilarate me. They give me solace; help me to understand philosophy, and to know ways of worshipping the Supreme through His own creation, the nature. It is a small tribute to the genius of Tagore which in my limited capacity I have tried to project.
